Day Make-up

Hello everybody,

Welcome to Jays Make-up. It’s a brand new month and we have a lot of things in store for you. This month we will be talking about day make-up that you can apply when going to the office, meetings, day time corporate events.

1.     Your make-up is not supposed to be very bold. It needs to look natural, settled and professional.

FOUNDATION:
2.     Look for a foundation or loose powder that is your skin tone, this is very important because if the foundation is too light or too dark it will affect the way your face looks. If you have black spots on your face it is advisable to use both. In this case start by applying your foundation and finish it off with a loose powder. Please be aware that you do not apply a layer that is too thick because it needs to look natural.

EYES:
3.     When applying your eye make-up we always start with the eye shadows. Do not begin by applying your eyeliner, because if you apply the shadows after the eyeliner the powder tends to fall on top of the eyeliner, fading the color. This is why we first apply the eye shadow and then the eyeliner.
With your eye shadows you must use lighter colors, which are closer to your skin tone and are termed as day colors. For example, you can use light brown, soft pink, soft shades of gold and any colors that compliment your skin tone but are mild.
4.     After applying the eye shadow, line your eyes with a liquid eyeliner or black pencil. This enhances your eyes. Please note that the line should not be too thick and dramatic, because it is for the day. Remember that less is more
5.     Lastly, apply a little mascara to your eyelashes to bring your eyes out, especially when you have small eyes.

EYEBROWS:
6.     If you have not waxed or trimmed your eyebrows into shape, use an eyebrow brush to shape your eyebrows. If your eyebrows are already shaped well just start by applying brown pencil to your eyebrows.
Start drawing your eyebrows by outlining the shape of your eyebrows. Do not extend the eyebrow out too far from your eyes towards your ears, but keep it in the same shape as your natural eyebrow. Do not press the pencil too hard on your eyebrow but apply the pencil lightly and then brush it in with the eyebrow brush.

Please note that a BLACK pencil should NOT be used when drawing in your eyebrows, because it does not look natural.

(*tip: if you do not have an eyebrow brush, use an old tooth brush that you longer use to brush your eyebrows into shape)

LIPS:
7.     If you want to line your lips, use a lip-liner that has the same color as that of your lipstick. This way the lip-liner works as a barrier to keep your lipstick in place all day long. Also here, please do not forget to use lighter colors and colors that do not stand out too much to give it that professional look and feel.

BLUSH:
8.     During the day blush is not really needed. If you do want to apply a bit of blush, make sure it is very mild and compliments your skin tone. Make sure that you apply it starting from the apples on your cheeks. To find your apples smile and find the part of your cheek that stands out most. From here apply the blush towards your hairline and then bring it back down in a “C” motion. Also do this upwards to give your face a soft look.
After this make sure to blend, Blend, BLEND! Blending in the blush will give you the ultimate natural look that you need for your day time make-up.

9.     When the day is done always remember to CLEANSE YOUR FACE VERY WELL!!! So that you do not get any reaction to the make-up or unnecessary spots on your face.
